After losing her son to suicide, Clare created an incredible project of hope

Descriptive Alt Text

“Life is precious, every day is precious, live your life and cherish every second.”

– Clare Milford Haven

In a devastating turn of events just before Christmas 2006, Clare's world shattered when her beloved son, James, aged only 21, took his own life. In the face of unimaginable grief, Clare transformed her pain into purpose, founding 'James' Place,' a suicide-prevention charity with five non clinical centres offering free, life-saving treatment to men in crisis.

Clare made it her life’s mission to raise awareness for men’s mental wellbeing and help save lives. Through her charity ‘James Place’, the fortitude and selfless dedication Clare has is an inspiration to everyone. Going from strength to strength and has now opened 5 centres around the country.

This podcast really hit home for me and I really hope you enjoy it, as much as I did.

1. Feel the Love:

  • Know you're surrounded by genuine love from people who couldn’t imagine life without you.
  • Even on tough days, trust in the power of that love.

2. Keep it Simple, Be Kind:

  • Practice simple kindness; it costs nothing.
  • When someone asks, share how you truly feel, no pretence.

3. Live the Simple Joys:

  • Embrace each day, find something positive to savour.
  • Live fully, love deeply, and appreciate being alive.
  • Life is so precious, in tough times its important not to take it for granted.
